The owners of this property wanted their kitchen to be the perfect spot for hosting their extended family, while ensuring their en-suite bathroom is their own private sanctuary.
With a large extended family, homeowners John and Jas had their new house built with entertaining in mind. They wanted a home that allowed their two grown-up sons to have more privacy plus wanted a large kitchen to accommodate guests. To achieve their dream they called in Edita Sykora Malowney, design director and owner of The Sugarcube who collaborated with Tiles & Baths Direct to create the new interiors. Edita comments, “The brief was to create a light spacious area to accommodate a large island plus allow for entertaining.”
Edita positioned the large extendable dining table near to the doors into the garden. “I wanted the family to be able to enjoy a lovely view and for the table to be in a key position for large garden parties,” she says. With this, the family love to have their evening family meals overlooking the beautifully illuminated garden.
The sleek German kitchen was suggested by Edita and she worked with Daniel Gold, kitchen designer and manager at Tiles & Baths Direct who supplied it. She explains her choice, “It is important with such large open-plan kitchen, dining cum lounge area to link the colours, textures and themes to connect the spaces.” She continues, “I suggested this kitchen mainly because of the Tabacco Oak and Pebble Grey hues that work so well with the wenge and dark lacquer furniture in the dining and lounge area.” John and Jas particularly love the integrated lighting system in the cabinets and drawers.
